Stikstoffiltratie NOX FILTERBOX 2.0

The NOx FilterBox 2.0 is a plug-and-play solution that captures nitrogen oxides (NOx) around construction and business activities as a mitigation measure. The NOx FilterBox 2.0 has been tested by TNO for 150 hours at a construction site in the Randstad and can remove 27 kg of NOx from the outside air on an annual basis. This amount varies depending on the prevailing concentration of NOx in the outdoor air.
NOX Filterbox

The NOx FilterBox 2.0 can be applied in any desired sector for capturing nitrogen oxides. For optimal performance, it is recommended to place the NOx FilterBox 2.0 at a height of 2 to 4 meters with unobstructed access to outdoor air, for example, on a standalone 20″ container.

Test TNO

The NOx FilterBox 2.0 was tested by TNO for one week at a construction site in the Randstad. Continuous measurements were taken to assess the intake of nitrogen oxides and the amount expelled. The measurements demonstrate that the system effectively captures nitrogen oxides, particularly nitrogen dioxide (NO2). During the 150-hour measurement period, a total of 458 grams of nitrogen oxides were removed. The study was conducted at winter temperatures ranging from 14 to 0 degrees Celsius.

Calculation for NOx Capture in Weight Annually

1. Based on an operational duration of 24/7 for 365 days
2. Background concentration including local emission factors
3. Based on the national average ratio: 70% NO2 vs. 30% NO

Advice for Permitting

OC Filtration Solutions also provides advice for your permit application. To determine the required number of NOx FilterBoxes for construction projects, we offer our clients the option to have calculations performed by an independent engineering firm. Based on the AERIUS calculations you provide, they can use advanced modeling to calculate how many NOx FilterBoxes would be necessary to achieve a deposition of 0.0 as a result of the construction activities mentioned in AERIUS. This calculation can then be used to support the permit application.

Maintenance

Using measuring equipment on the NOx FilterBox 2.0, we can monitor the efficiency of the filter medium. If the filter medium becomes saturated, the filters need to be replaced. We offer maintenance contracts for both monitoring and filter replacement. Please contact us for more information.

Waste Management

Contaminated filters are disposed of as chemical waste. This waste is used as high-calorific fuel in modern waste incineration plants and fits within a circular process. These waste incineration plants comply with strict environmental regulations and are equipped with so-called SCR systems (selective catalytic reduction systems), which remove an average of 90-94% of all nitrogen oxides released during the combustion process. The residual heat generated during the combustion process is often reused as heat/energy.
