Phase change material

Phase change materials (PCM)

PCM stands for Phase Change Materials. These are materials whose phase transition (from solid to liquid and from liquid to solid) is used to store and release heat. In short, PCM stores heat for later use in cycles of 24 hours.

Discover the revolutionary functionality of Phase Change Materials (PCM) – the thermal battery of the future.

PCMs, made from specially blended inorganic salts, are designed to efficiently store and release heat through their unique phase change property. At a programmed temperature, such as 23°C for offices, these materials absorb heat by transforming from solid to liquid, effectively cooling the environment.

As the ambient temperature drops, the PCMs solidify and release the stored heat. This innovative system utilizes day and night temperature differences to maintain a stable and comfortable indoor temperature, resulting in significant energy savings.

Inspired by the properties of ice, we use a similar technique with environmentally friendly salt as the basis for our PCMs. These salts, a by-product from Groningen, are encapsulated in HDPE panels for use in offices and other commercial buildings. Our PCM panels offer exceptional heat storage capacities – 36 times more than concrete – and superior heat transfer, 15 times more efficient than concrete.

This innovative technology not only results in thermally efficient buildings but also contributes to sustainability with full reusability and Cradle to Cradle Silver certification. Additionally, our PCM panels are certified fire-safe, making them a safe and responsible choice for modern construction projects.
